Duckling

Did you know: Ducklings can swim and dive within hours of hatching.
About the Duckling
Ducklings are baby ducks, known for their soft, fluffy appearance and endearing behavior. These precocial birds are able to walk and swim shortly after hatching, though they rely on their mother for protection and guidance. Ducklings are born with waterproof down, which helps them stay warm and buoyant in water. They follow their mother in a line, often seen waddling behind her in parks or on the water's edge. Ducklings imprint on their mother or the first moving object they see after hatching, a behavior that helps ensure they follow and learn from the right adult. They grow quickly, developing their adult feathers and learning to fly within 50-60 days. Ducklings feed on insects, small aquatic creatures, and vegetation, gradually transitioning to an adult duck diet as they mature.
