About the Polar Bear

Polar bears are the largest land carnivores, native to the Arctic regions. These majestic animals are perfectly adapted for life in the harsh, icy environment of the far north. Their thick layer of blubber and water-repellent fur keeps them warm in frigid waters. Polar bears are excellent swimmers, capable of swimming for days at a time. They primarily hunt seals, using sea ice as a platform for hunting. Polar bears have an incredible sense of smell, able to detect seals up to a kilometer away and under 3 feet of snow. They are considered vulnerable due to climate change, which is causing a loss of sea ice crucial for their hunting and breeding. Conservation efforts are ongoing to protect these iconic Arctic predators.
