Giant Panda

Did you know: Giant pandas have an extra 'thumb' that helps them grip bamboo.
About the Giant Panda
The giant panda is a beloved bear species native to the bamboo forests of central China. Known for their distinctive black and white coloration, pandas are expert climbers and spend much of their time in trees. Despite being classified as carnivores, pandas' diets consist almost entirely of bamboo. They have a unique wrist bone that acts like a thumb, helping them grasp bamboo stems. Giant pandas are solitary animals and communicate through scent marks and vocalizations. Conservation efforts have helped increase their population, but they remain vulnerable due to habitat fragmentation.
