Red Kangaroo

Did you know: Kangaroos can't walk backwards easily due to their strong tails and large feet.
About the Red Kangaroo
The red kangaroo is the largest living marsupial, native to mainland Australia. These iconic animals are known for their powerful hind legs, long tails, and distinctive hopping locomotion. Red kangaroos can leap up to 25 feet in a single bound and reach speeds of up to 35 mph. Female kangaroos have a pouch on their belly where joeys (baby kangaroos) develop and nurse. Kangaroos are herbivores, feeding mainly on grass and shrubs. They have a complex social structure, living in groups called mobs. Red kangaroos are well-adapted to the arid Australian outback, able to go long periods without water.
