Tasmanian Devil

Did you know: Tasmanian devils can eat up to 40% of their body weight in a single day.
About the Tasmanian Devil
The Tasmanian devil is a carnivorous marsupial native to the island state of Tasmania in Australia. These stocky, muscular animals are the largest carnivorous marsupials in the world since the extinction of the thylacine. Tasmanian devils are known for their loud and disturbing screech, black fur, and tenacious nature. They have extremely strong jaws and teeth, allowing them to consume entire prey, including bones. Tasmanian devils are mostly nocturnal and spend their days in dense bush or in burrows. They play an important role in the Tasmanian ecosystem as scavengers, helping to keep their habitat free of carrion. Unfortunately, they are facing threats from a contagious cancer called Devil Facial Tumor Disease, leading to significant conservation efforts to protect the species.
