About the Canada Goose

Canada geese are large waterbirds native to North America, known for their distinctive black head and neck with white cheek patches. These birds are highly adaptable and can be found in a variety of habitats, from Arctic tundra to suburban parks. Canada geese are herbivores, primarily feeding on grass, aquatic plants, and grains. They are known for their V-shaped flying formations during migration, which helps them conserve energy on long flights. Canada geese are monogamous and often mate for life, with both parents involved in raising their young. These birds have a complex system of vocalizations used for communication within their flocks. While once threatened by overhunting, Canada goose populations have rebounded significantly, sometimes leading to conflicts in urban areas where they've adapted to living alongside humans.
